Why You May See Carolyn’s Name on the Ballot Twice

Why You May See Carolyn’s Name on the Ballot Twice

Carolyn Comitta has deep roots in our community – she graduated from Downingtown High School, taught in the Octorara Area School District for 12 years and raised her family here in West Chester.

In the State House, Carolyn has fought to fully fund our schools, reduce gun violence, pass clean energy legislation, increase pipeline safety requirements, protect every woman’s right to choose, and put an end to partisan gerrymandering.

Depending on where you live in the county, you may see Carolyn Comitta’s name on the Primary ballot twice, for reelection for State Representative in the 156th District and PA Senate in the 19th District.

“My name will be on the Primary ballot for both my House seat and the State Senate seat. It is a unique opportunity and I hope you will vote for me in both races. Let me explain a bit more about the process, PA law allows my name to appear on the ballot for both seats. If I win the Senate Primary, I will not run for reelection in the House. In that case, our District Committee people will choose another candidate to run for my seat in November. There will be no special election. I will serve out the remainder of my term this year in the House. I am confident there will be an excellent candidate chosen to run for my House seat,” said Carolyn.

“I thought long and hard about this and know that I can make a big impact in the Senate and I am thrilled to have the support of the Senate Democratic leadership and PSEA among others, to run for state senate. Now more than ever, experienced leadership is needed in the senate. I hope I can count on your support!”
